Learn the wine game

Here's a novel way to increase your wine knowledge, a board game called "Bouquet". A Swedish sommelier named Britt-Marie Backe created the...

The game |
The board game consists of squares each representing a wine label from an existing wine maker.
During the game the players can view each wine label with an information text about the wine and its specifics.
This information is shown in a separate field e.g. below the game board and it is activated with "mouse over".
The board game has start/finish squares for 4 different players each marked out with a different color/symbol.

View/join/set up a table |
Once the user is registered as a member on bouquetquiz.com she/he can now proceed to the
actual game. The user can either join an existing table or set up a new table.
All ongoing games are visible in a" list of active games/tables" and it is possible for a user to select an active table
and view the game as a spectator.
All games that have not yet started are show in a "list of tables to join" and the user
can decide to join one of the tables from this list.
The user can also create a "new table" and set up the rules/settings for this new table.

Playing the game
Once the players have joined a table the game begins. The creator of the table gets to initiate the game. This means that the player's piece is highlighted and only this player can roll the dices (one regular for the number of steps and the other to select a category). Form now on all action around the table and on the board is visible for all the players.
Once the dices are rolled the player's piece is automatically moved along the board to a specific square. This square is either a "normal square" where nothing happens OR a "chans square" where a "chans card" appears on the screen with an "event/instruction" for the player. If there is a "chans card" this should always appear before the "category card".
The "chans cards" represent a positive event for the player, this in order to speed up the game.
Once the player's piece is moved to the right square a question card from the right category is shown. There are four possible answers on each card. Once the card is shown a countdown starts, this countdown is visible to all players.
If the player selects the right answer he gets a symbol for that category and he can roll the dices again.
If the selects the wrong answer the turn goes to next player clockwise.
If the player fails to answer within the countdown time the turn goes to next player clockwise.

Winning the game |
When a player has won one symbol from each category and has passed her/his start/finish square, she/he is declared the winner of the game.
|
|
Ranking |
All new players start with a fixed ranking e.g. 1000 pt. After each game the player gets his/her ranking adjusted by the number of right answers divided by the number of answered questions.
The ranking system divides the players in three categories: e.g. Beginner/Pro/Premiere cru.
Players with high ranking can create a "limited table" that is accessible only for players within the same Category/ranking level.
